What is Competitive Speech / knowledge bowl? These are types of competitions in QED
Competitive Speech / Knowledge Bowl:
Competitive Speech / Knowledge Bowl teams compete against 23 other teams in schools in the Snohomish district.
At each of the contests, SHS is matched against 2 other schools and standings are
determined by cumulative scores. At the end of the main season, the top 7 schools
hold playoffs and a final championship match
Knowledge Bowl:
Knowledge Bowl teams compete in groups of four. Each of which has its own name which acts and scores as an individual team. They compete against teams from about 35 other NW Washington schools of all sizes. Each match is composed of a 50 question written round, followed by 3 oral rounds in a fast moving quick answer format
What is involved in Knowledge Bowl / Competitive Speech? Traveling to different schools and competing in various knowledge competitions

Purpose of Natural Helpers:
Natural Helpers is a peer helping program that helps students strengthen
their communication and helping skills and provide support to others
and service to the school and community
What is involved in Natural Helpers?
Student s who are nominated by their peers must attend a training retreat.
Meetings are held twice a month for ongoing training and support
Goals of the Natural Helpers:
The capability to prevent some of the problems of adolescence
The capability to intervene effectively with troubled friends
The capability to choose positive ways of taking car of themselves
The capability to improve their school and community
